People who read BoT’s South by Southwest coverage might think that the college’s writers travel far and wide to cover events. Alas, not the case. Hence this blog—we want to follow along too. I’m especially envious this week: faculty and staff are going to Kenya to give clinics and audition potential Africa Scholars.
Last year (read about it), 26 musicians who auditioned in Ghana and South Africa won $1.4 million in scholarships, and drummer Victor “Blue” Dogah became the first full-ride recipient under the new Africa Scholars program. It’s part of the college’s commitment to music rooted in the African diaspora—and to musicians who might leave Africa for a while to learn and share at Berklee.
I can’t wait for the photos. Read more about the trip….
