A successful summer for Paula Thompson from Mississippi

Fairytales do come true. . . it happened to Paula Thompson, a Clarksdale, Mississippi high school student who came to Berklee this summer for the Five-Week Program on a full scholarship. (Publicist Allen Bush blogged about Paula here and here.) The singer was the first female Five-Week scholarship recipient from the Delta Blues Museum music program for youth.

Only 15 years old, Paula was a little nervous about coming to Boston by herself, Allen says, but by the end she was comfortable with Berklee and Berklee, well, loved her: She’ll be coming back next summer on another full scholarship, announced this week. And maybe after that. . . she can start to think about college?

Congratulations, Paula! We are so proud of you here in Clarksdale. Wish everyone could come join us Thursday, July 7th at The Den for a major Summer Blow-Out Blues Jam to help defer some of her expenses for her SECOND Full Scholarship Summer Five-week program. Thank you Berklee for your support of one of our outstanding youth.

We will have photos of Paula along with the musicians and guests at the Blow-Out Blues Jam posted next week on The Delta Bohemian.
