Berklee did Dublin (again)

In its second year, Berklee in Dublin drew more than 50 musicians representing 12 countries, including 19 from Ireland and 14 from England, along with students from Norway, Italy, Sweden, Poland, Spain, Greece, France, and the U.S. This year’s workshops were held at Newpark Music Centre, a Berklee International Network partner site in Blackrock, Ireland.   Continue reading →

The Irish Times features Berklee in Dublin

The Irish Times - Ireland’s newspaper of record – ran a comprehensive story on Berklee in Dublin and the college’s stepped-up recruitment efforts in the Emerald Isle as its lead arts feature on Friday. The piece essentially gave readers a crash course on Berklee and its strong links to Ireland, with quotes from trustee Bill Whelan, Irish jazz star and Berklee alumnus Brian Dunning, and others. It also included four large color photos of students at the workshops and a shot of The Edge speaking at Berklee’s 2007 commencement ceremony. 

As a bonus, the Times online produced a multimedia feature with audio and photography from the improvisation workshops.

Improvisation Symposium

Berklee profs (and friends) held a freewheeling dialogue on improvisation last night at a DIT-hosted symposium. Frequently insightful and sometimes hilarious, the room was packed all night with students from the program as well as a few outside visitors. Continue reading →
