We are in between auditions at The Fugard Theater in Cape Town, South Africa. As I look around the concert hall, I can see that the team at the Festival and ESP Afrika are serious professionals. The Cape Town International Jazz Festival is a world class event and one that we at Berklee are excited to be supporting.
The event has been sold out for a few weeks. The 2-day event will play host to 30K guests. The concert events will all be kicked off on Wednesday evening with a free public concert which will also see about 18K attendees. A quick glance at the list of acclaimed local and world renown artists helps to bring all of this into focus.
I am here with chair of music business and management/trumpeter Don Gorder, professor of woodwinds Jim Odgren and assistant director of admissions Gojko Damjanic. This week are supporting the Training and Development program. This includes checking out an impressive student jazz festival held on Sunday evening at The Fugard Theater, conducting a few days of auditions and interviews for candidates from across the African continent seeking to study at Berklee and giving a few days of lectures and master classes on a range of musical topics.
Throughout the week, I will be making posts on our work and the event. To start things off, I thought it would be cool to give you a glimpse of the natural beauty of the Cape area and what we saw coming in from the airport as we headed into town.

My name is Nicole Bono, I am currently a 7th semester student at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and a Music Business major. Approaching the end of my studies, I started to look at Grad Programs. I knew right from the start that I would want to continue my studies in the entertainment industry, and focus onto International work. I am bilingual, fluent in English and Italian, and loving languages and travel so much I know that I want to be involved in the International workplace, especially if I can combine those passions along with the Music Industry.
The Berklee Valencia Masters Program seemed to be a perfect match for me, and the more I began to read about it and ask the people on campus, the more it interested me. I began to fill out my application, signing up, gathering my thoughts, and coming up with a Statement of Purpose. I found that e-mailing the people in the admissions office was very helpful. When the representative, Nigel Lees came over to Boston, I met with him as well, and he was so helpful to give me that extra push.
Finally, just the other day I submitted my application! Now I am waiting to hear back and hopefully I will have to prepare for an interview in April. I am so excited to be a part of this whole experience, and maybe in September, I’ll be lucky enough to be part of the first class at Berklee Valencia.

10월 23일 부터 26일까지는 서울재즈아카데미에서 워크샵이 진행되었고, 27일부터 29일까지는 오디션과 인터뷰가 진행되었습니다.
워크샵으로는, 버클리 교수님들이 직접 진행하신 송라이팅 수업, 오디션과 인터뷰 준비하는 방법 등 여러가지 클리닉이 진행되었고,
새로 생긴 Berklee in Valencia에 대한 설명과 교수님들과의 잼세션도 있었습니다.
