Always Trying to Get “Closer”

Hello All!

Lucas here. Just to give a brief refresher, I’m interning at Disruptor Records in New York City – An upcoming record label lead by Adam Alpert that has a joint venture agreement with Sony Music Entertainment.

After my time here I’ve learned that the EDM world is fast, ever-changing, and always on the move to the next big sound. It lives within the realms of Youtube Channels, Spotify Playlists, Social Media Profiles, Soundcloud Tastemakers, EDM Blogs, Festivals, Underground Scenes, etc. Now for each genre of music there can be tremendous to minute differences to how you market it, sell it, promote it, whatever – but all musicians, bands, and artists start in the same place. The Music Industry is about “Putting Out Fires”

Hello Everyone!

I’m Lucas, a student heading into his last year at Berklee. Seems like these last few semesters of college are just speeding by. Until recently I was dual majoring in Music Business (Entrepreneurship) and Music Production & Engineering (aka MP&E) . When I first got to Berklee in Fall of 2013 I was 100% more into MP&E and leaning towards a career as an Audio Engineer. Within a few semesters I had gone through a few assistant engineering gigs at local studios in Boston and eventually landed a position as an in-house recording engineer.

Insider’s Scoop Backstage at Electric Daisy Carnival

more EDCLast month, I had the amazing opportunity to attend Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in New York with my classmate Kim Barbosa as Heavy Rotation Records (BPMI) representatives for our artist Glow Team. Heavy Rotations Records is an on-campus record label that signs a select group of Berklee artists each year and helps the signed artists build a solid fanbase until festival season. I learned so much about the live concert industry from working as the point person for Glow Team at EDC, and I’ll be giving the insider scoop on how logistics run in an event as such!
