Insider’s Scoop Backstage at Electric Daisy Carnival

more EDCLast month, I had the amazing opportunity to attend Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in New York with my classmate Kim Barbosa as Heavy Rotation Records (BPMI) representatives for our artist Glow Team. Heavy Rotations Records is an on-campus record label that signs a select group of Berklee artists each year and helps the signed artists build a solid fanbase until festival season. I learned so much about the live concert industry from working as the point person for Glow Team at EDC, and I’ll be giving the insider scoop on how logistics run in an event as such!

Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival 2015

yoshieYoshie Nakayama, from Tokyo, is a Contemporary Writing and Production major, 6th semester. She studies arranging, recording/mixing with ProTools, playing trombone for concerts/recordings, and singing in vocal ensembles. She graduated Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo with Bachelor of Music from Music Education major, Music Education minor, with a license of teaching music in japanese Junior high/senior high schools.

春学期に履修していたビッグバンドアンサンブルの授業でゲストにお迎えしたビブラフォン奏者Stefon Harrisをフィーチャーし、彼の曲をバークリーの先生Omar Thomasがアレンジした曲目を演奏していて、独特の世界観がありました。

Casey Driessen performs at the Viljandi Folk festival in Estonia

Casey Driessen is the new Contemporary Performance (Production Concentration) Program Director at Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain. Casey recently performed at the Viljandi Folk festival in Estonia and shared his thoughts with the local publication Eesti Ekspress:Casey-Driessen-Berklee-Valencia-Estonia-Festival

“I spent last weekend in Viljandi, Estonia, for my first solo gigs since arriving to my new life in Spain and the EU. It was my first time to Estonia and traveling there was similar to flying across the USA. I’m no stranger to long travel, but in this case, residing within the EU now makes getting places like this much more probable—which was a big attraction to moving here. I love music, of course, but more specifically, I love the cultural exchange that happens through music.

こんにちは。日本は桜がだいぶ咲いているようですね。ボストンにもソメイヨシノではないのですが、似たようなピンク色の花を咲かせる樹がたくさん並んでいる道がありますが、まだ雪が降ったりしているので、花が咲くのはまだ先になりそうです。

さて、先週の月曜から木曜まで、バークリーで第29回インターナショナルフォークミュージックフェスティバルという毎年恒例のイベントが開催されました。
