I’m Margot Edwards, publicist at Berklee. The first time I came to SXSW was in 1996 and I’ve been many times since. It seems like it grows exponentially every year. Probably because it does… Overwhelming is a word that often gets used to describe it and with good reason. The number of band playing officially and unofficially is truly astounding! For the last four years I’ve had a hand in putting together Berklee’s SXSW Party that features alumni and students. We’ve got a great lineup this year, including Melissa Ferrick, Aaron Sinclair, The Motion Sick, Annie Lynch and the Beekeepers, SuperVolcano, and more.
I just got into Austin a few hours ago myself. Looking forward to the party Friday and in the meantime I plan to see a boat load of music by alumni and non-alumni alike. I also plan to take in some panels, and talks by Quincy Jones and Devo tomorrow (not together of course…).
Now it’s off to the Convention Center to brave what could be a very long line to pick up my SXSW badge. Hope I get it in time to get to some of the early bands tonight!
